21 Weeks and It's A ...

GIRL!!!

And let me tell you, she has made an appearance ;)

What a difference seven weeks makes, right?!?

I know! I don't realize how pregnant I really look until I take these pictures. {Which I have to take approximately 87 of, by the way. Turns out I have a true Will Ferrell/Ricky Bobby I don't know what to do with my hands - type syndrome.}

I was going to post a picture of the ultrasound that showed she was a girl, but then I felt wierd about posting her lady parts on the internet, so I just wore pink for the picture instead. Please don't think I'm completely crazy. Just a little bit crazy ;)

All that space is for a baby the size of a carrot or a banana, whichever you prefer. But we're officially over half-way there, and she should hit the 1 pound mark sometime between now and Sunday. That feels monumental. And real.

You're wondering if she has a name {besides Poppyseed, of course}. So is my mom.

She almost does. No, we're not keeping it a secret until she's born. We're just very indecisive. But I come from a long line of serious monogrammers, so it won't be much longer.

I can tell you that if I could get a string of pearls on this baby in the womb, I totally would. I mean I want to teach her to be strong and independent...But I also want her to sparkle. {Inside and out ;)} A couple of days after we found out, I was in the mall getting my first pair of maternity skinny jeans {oxymoron?}, and I realized you have to walk all the way through the baby clothes to get to the maternity section. Those people at GAP are no dummies. My eyes went from ruffle to lace to sequin so fast my head was spinning. I didn't buy anything, though, because I am really sappy and I felt like Josh and I needed to make the first purchase for our daughter {nuts to even type that!} together. I'm sure I'll get over that soon. :)

I'm feeling so much more like a normal person during this part of my pregnancy, and it is a welcomed relief. I want to take advantage of this time and get as much done as possible, so I'll do my best to keep you posted on updates to our home, nursery plans, etc.

Baby changes everything, I hear.

Happy New TRIMESTER!

That's right - the changing of the year for most brought an even bigger change in this household. We have finally officially entered the second trimester!

First, I have to say thank you for all the sweet comments on here, facebook, texts, and emails. It means SO much to us!

Now we have lots to talk about, and I don't think there's any chance I can make it into one cohesive story {pregnancy brain...}, so I'm going to share random thoughts and facts about our journey so far and hope you can decipher. :)

.....

We found out we were pregnant about an hour after our sweet, tiny dog Rosie jumped out of Josh's moving truck across a lane of traffic and got run over but miraculously straddled by a small car. She had one scratch on her from the whole ordeal. That's it. We're fairly certain that she was protected by an angel because the Lord knew how messed up we would be if something happened to ruin that day.

We took 8 pregnancy tests. We wanted to be sure. I will never forget reading the word pregnant.

Josh immediately removed every chemical he could find in our house and took me to Target for all natural everything.

I spent that night on google on my iPad. Baby Davenport was the size of a poppy seed, so poppyseed has been his or her nickname ever since.

I thought pregnancy was a piece of cake for the first 3 weeks after we found out. HOWever, the morning of week 6 day 1, I felt quite differently. Turns out I am not one of those I have felt great the whole time pregnant women. I ended up telling my work a week earlier than I had planned because I threw up on myself in my car on my way to work. I've had better moments ;)

Diet Mtn. Dew misses me, but after having given it up I may not be able to take it back after poppyseed arrives. It will have to deal.

I haven't had consistent cravings except for watermelon and Taco Bell. A better way to describe my feelings about food would be that my normal indecisiveness about meals has been replaced with a need for a specific food at a specific time. Example: canadian bacon and pineapple pizza Thanksgiving night.

I have done my best to walk on the treadmill at least three nights a week. I like to record movies and then only watch them on the treadmill bits at a time to give myself more motivation. FYI it is not easy to use good breathing technique when you are crying your way through Soul Surfer.

Speaking of crying, it will also happen if you decide to speak at one of your best friend's rehearsal dinner. I barely made it through a really cheesy reference to an m&m commercial. {It was relevant in my head...}

I feel like there are so many more things to share {like how much people DON'T tell you about pregnancy... it is NUTS}.

But for now, Josh, poppyseed {now a lemon!}, and I have some eating to do :)

Happy New Year to you all! We are looking forward to an EXCITING 2012!!

Whoa

Baby!

From a poppyseed...

To a sweet pea...

Then an olive...

Baby Davenport {currently a plum!} is expected to arrive July 1.

We are beyond excited and feel incredibly blessed.

Stay tuned for details ;)

Fotos

Josh and I {and Lady and Rose} finally had our family photos taken by Amy Hough a few weeks ago, and not only do we love the ones we've seen so far, but it was so much fun!

She is like a magician with sunlight! {When my mom saw this picture she said that we must be whispering sweet nothings. Actually, we were talking about what we wanted to have for dinner. For reals.}

This is an honest laugh because it took us several tries to get his arm around my neck in a way that didn't look abusive - haha!

Amy's husband, Jeff {a peach of a fellow}, worked with her the whole time. I love good teamwork! He happens to know how to make these wierd noises that got the dogs' attention. Trust me, if he can manage to get Lady and Rose to look straight at the camera at the same time, getting children to pose must be cake.

Josh and I even managed to respond to the noises on occasion ;).

Okay, enough about us. {She took a bagillion pictures, but I just posted a few so it's not too awkward, ok? ;)} Go to Amy's website and see her work for yourself. She loves taking pictures, and she made us feel like we were just hanging out and she happened to have a camera. {We hang out on cool antique couches in the middle of open fields all the time ;)}. In case I haven't made myself clear, I highly recommend her!

Have a great weekend!
